One of my favourite bands from the North West of England is The Hyena Kill. Taking inspiration for their name from the likes of Bikini Kill and featuring a strong female presence in the band, The Hyena Kill rock out hard. Influenced by heavier bands such as Deftones and Nirvana, they capture an incredibly loud sound between the two members of this duo. In this video, we see Lorna Blundell geek out over Natal drums, going into some good detail about what makes a good kit and things I hadn’t noticed, such as the fact that she drop-tunes her drums. All very good information for grrrl drummers out there. And guy drummers too of course. Below, is possibly my favourite The Hyena Kill songs, ‘Crosses.’ Enjoy.
