From Dilly Dally to Girlpool with some amazing stuff in between. The Ultimate Playlist!

I’ve put together a playlist of some of my favourite music that I am listening to at the moment on repeat, starting with the immense Dilly Dally.

From the Grungey Dilly Dally, to the unique beauty of Angel Olsen’s voice, there are some grrrl treats in store. Some songs are contemporary such as Globelamp’s ‘Controversial/Confrontational’ and some are older classics such as feminist band Nirvana’s ‘Come As You Are.’ From L7’s ‘Pretend We’re Dead’ which never gets old no matter how many decades you listen to it for, to rarer tracks like Johnette Napolitano’s drugged up sounding ‘Bringing Me Down.’

If you’re into Grunge type stuff and riot grrrl, this is the playlist for you. It includes Hole’s cover of Duran Duran’s ‘Hungry Like the Wolf’ and the amazing Slutever’s ‘1994.’ I only wish I could have included the song ‘Ugly When I Cry’ by Daddy Issues, but it’s not on Spotify. Both bands, I highly recommend to those Nineties revivalists and throwbacks looking for new music in the same vein.

Riot Grrrl numbers such as Girlpool’s ‘Before The World Was Big’ and Julie Ruin’s amazing ‘Run Fast’… which reminds me- I’m off to see them on tour on Sunday in Manchester! Excited! I’ve also included the surfy beauty of Tashaki Miyaki to the playlist. I forget how I came across this band, but I own everything they have put out. Everyone I play them to loves them too- a point which either reflects the band or the company I keep. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

Representing grrrls with keyboards are the hilariously named Let’s Eat Grandma. This duo are one of the most original musical acts I’ve come across in recent times. Check them out!

So mix tapes used to be a way to romance people and with this Spotify playlist consider yourselves well and truly romanced.
